I feel like I am getting very behind in writing... I have been really busy, but not as incredibly busy as one would have expected. One being myself. Anyway, this week is going pretty good. The only thing that is even remotely stressing me out is this rubber band that I am working with... I wouldn't even to go so far as calling it a rubber BAND. It's more like a rubber wannabe drumline with a saxophonist. The SRA School of Methods "Orchestra" is what it was meant to be. The first day though, I quickly informed them that I wasn't gonna be in charge of an orchestra. So, I regretfully told this girl who played violin that she couldn't participate. So, that left me with 6 drummers (only 2 of which who could play), a kid who blew air into a trombone (and couldn't play drums but wanted to go be with them), a trumpet (who also wanted to be a drummer), and a saxophone (who in all reality is VERY good). Well, I told one of the drummers (who actually could play) to take the rest of them into another room and teach them... I don't know much about drums (or why all of a sudden it is so incredibly cool to play them), so I delegated the drum teaching to him. His name is William and he is in band at D.W. Daniel, so I am sure that he knows what he's doing. Anyway, I had such a hard time trying to get the trumpet player to play. Since I started on trumpet, I could actually work with him. The trombone player was a lost cause I'm sorry to say. He didn't even know his B flat scale. So, he basically sat there while I spoon fed note from "The Horse" to the trumpet player. I had to read out the rhythms and notes for him, but he eventually got it. It was good to finally play the song with him, the sax, and William on snare at the end of the night. It wasn't good, but I do believe I helped the trumpet player accomplish something he didn't think he could do.
Last night, I sent the trombone player in with the drums and my brother came from Greenville. He is a sax player too. So, I stuck him and the other saxophonist together and we played "The Horse" and "Irish Tune from County Derry." It sounded good... even if it was just saxophones. Anyway, there will be more tonight, and tomorrow... and a performance on Saturday...
Anyway, I am not on the best of terms with my chapter right now, and frankly, I don't care if anyone is insulted with what I have to say. I am insulted, actually. I never thought that I could be judged because of my major... a major that indisputably is one of honor, integrity, respect, and loyalty. But truly, the chapter got what it wanted... so I can't be upset at them. I'm just upset at the politics of it all. Congrats to Cameron though... you do deserve a position of leadership, and I hope that your skills will help build the chapter up. Congrats to all the new officers... I'll be cheering from the sidelines.
